Despite its fame, it’s nothing new that there may be some small and negligible errors involved. Let’s have a look at some of the major Freestyle libre 3 sensor error (s) and their solutions: 

Problem: The Sensor is not adhesive to your skin

Solution: The reason may be the site is not free of dirt, oil, hair or sweat. Following the below steps may assist:  

  • Remove the Sensor.  
  • Clean the site with soap and water.  
  • Follow the guidelines before Applying and Starting Your Sensor sections  

Problem: Irritation of skin at the Sensor application site

Solution: This may be due to layers or other restricting clothing or accessories that cause friction at the site. Your skin may be sensitive to the adhesive material. If the annoyance is where the adhesive traces the skin, contact your healthcare expert to recognize the best solution.  

Complications to start your sensor or to receive sensor readings  

Problem: Starting Up of new Sensor

Solution: The reason may be the Sensor is not ready to read glucose. Wait until the 60-minute sensor set-up period has been finished.

Problem: Scanning Timeout

Solution: The reason may be the Reader is not close enough to the Sensor. Grasp the Reader within 4 cm (1.5 inches) of the Sensor and carry the screen of the Reader near the Sensor.  

Problem: Sensor ended

Solution: This may mean the Sensor life has finished. Put on and start a new Sensor.  

Problem: New Sensor found

Solution: This may mean before your previous Sensor ended, you scanned a new Sensor. The Reader will only be utilized with one Sensor at a time. If you apply and start a new Sensor, you will no longer be able to scan your old Sensor. If you would like to begin using the new Sensor, select “Yes”.  

Problem: Scanning Error

Solution: This may mean that the Reader was unable to communicate with the Sensor. Try scanning again.  

Problem: Sensor Error

Solution: This may mean that the system is unable to provide a glucose reading at the moment. Try to scan again in 10 minutes.  

Problem: Glucose Reading Unavailable

Solution: The reason may be the Sensor is too hot or too cold. Change location where the temperature is suitable and scan over in a few minutes.

Problem: Sensor Already in Use

Solution: This may mean your Sensor was on track by another Reader. Scan over the Sensor with the Reader that initiated it. Or start and apply a new Sensor.  

Problem: Replace Sensor

Solution: This may mean the System has spotted a problem with your Sensor. Apply and start a new Sensor.  

Some Libre 3 Reader Errors  

Difficulties Getting Glucose Alarms

You may not have turned the alarms on.  

Solution: To turn on the alarm you may have to touch the setting symbol and then choose alarms.

The Sensor may not be linking with your Reader, or there may be a problem with your Sensor or Reader.

Solution: The Sensor must be within the range (6 meters or 20 feet) of the Freestyle Libre 3 Reader or your compatible Smartphone for you to obtain alarms. Make sure that you are within this range. You will observe the sign of an alarm with a red line over it at the upper side of the home screen when your Sensor is not communicating with the Reader. If the Signal Loss Alarm is on, you will be warned if there has been no statement for 20 minutes. Try to scan your Sensor. If the Singal Loss Alarm is on and displays again after scanning your Sensor, contact Customer Service.

Sounds/vibrations may be turned off.

Solution: Check the Reader’s sound and vibration settings to ensure sound/vibration is on.  

What type of warnings will I receive on my smartwatch?

Solution: If you are using the Freestyle Libre 3 sensor with a well-matched app, you may be able to mirror alarms and other app notices on your smartwatch. Alarms must be turned on, to get alarms from the app on your smartwatch. Your mobile phone and smartwatch must be  

linked, and your devices are organized to carry notifications.

Your Reader battery may be dead

Solution: Charge your Reader with the USB cable involved.  

Your Sensor may have ended

Solution: Exchange your Sensor with a new one.

Alarm Signal Loss

Solution: This means the sensor has not automatically interconnected with the Reader in the past 20 minutes. The Reader should be within 6 meters (20 feet) of the Sensor. Try to scan the Sensor to get a glucose reading. If the Signal Loss Alarm displays again after scanning your Sensor, contact Customer Service.
