This automatic AID system is developed for adults and children (aged 6 and above) with type 1 diabetes mellitus. It is the traditional insulin pumps that require users to input fresh-detailed information such as carbohydrate counts and insulin ratios. This bio-pancrease pump streamlines the process by determining 100% of insulin doses autonomously. The ilet bionic pancreas has an advanced algorithm. It only requires you to enter your weight and the insulin doses will be automatically triggered by the pump. This iLet Bionic pump will adapt to your usual meals and the insulin doses are determined every 5 minutes. You do not need to calculate your basal rates. However, you do have the option to set your glucose targets to ‘Usual’, ‘Higher’, or ‘Lower’.
When you consume less, announce ‘Lower’, and announce ‘Higher’ if you consume more carbohydrates. The ‘usual’, ‘Low’, and ‘High’ should be based on the carbohydrates in your meals instead of total meal sizes. This artificial pancreas system seamlessly integrates with the Abbott Freestyle Libre 3 Plus sensor, Dexcom G6 sensor, and Dexcom G7 sensor.
